Personal Learning Assistance (PLA)
Our Personal Learning Assistance (PLA) Program provides individualized support for children who require additional assistance to participate, learn, and thrive within the school environment. A dedicated learning assistant works alongside the child during the school day, helping them access classroom activities, navigate routines, manage challenges, and develop greater independence while working collaboratively with teachers and the school team.

Suitable for children who:

Need additional support to participate in classroom activities

Have difficulty following classroom routines, instructions, or expectations

Require support with attention, focus, and staying on task

Experience challenges with social interaction and peer participation

Need assistance with transitions between activities or environments

Have difficulty with emotional regulation or managing overwhelming situations

Require support with communication and expressing their needs at school

Need help developing independence in academic and daily school routines

1-to-1 School Support – Providing individualized assistance throughout the school day based on the child’s needs

Classroom Participation – Helping children understand and participate in lessons, activities, and classroom routines

Learning Support – Breaking down tasks, providing prompts, and supporting the child to access learning activities

Attention & Task Engagement – Helping children stay focused, understand expectations, and complete tasks

Executive Functioning – Supporting planning, organization, working memory, time management, and task completion

Communication Support – Helping children understand instructions, communicate their needs, and participate appropriately

Social Participation – Supporting positive peer interactions, group participation, turn-taking, and social communication

Emotional Regulation – Providing strategies and support to help children manage emotions, frustration, anxiety, and challenging situations

Transitions & Routines – Supporting children through changes in activities, locations, schedules, and daily school routines

Independence Building – Gradually reducing prompts and encouraging children to develop confidence and independence in managing school tasks

Teacher & School Collaboration – Working alongside teachers and relevant school staff to support consistent strategies and meaningful participation
