About Us

We meet the child where they are, connect through what they love, and build from there.

Our Approach

Every Child Has Their Own Way of Learning, Connecting & Growing

At WHOA, we take a child-centred approach to early intervention, guided by the principles of DIRFloortime®. We believe meaningful growth begins with connection, relationships, and understanding each child as an individual.

We meet children where they are, follow their interests, and build on their strengths—creating meaningful opportunities for them to connect, communicate, learn, and grow at their own pace.

We See the Possibilities. We believe that every child has something wonderful within them waiting to be discovered. With connection, trust, opportunity, and the right support, children can surprise us with what they are capable of. We follow their lead. We nurture their strengths. We celebrate their uniqueness.

And when they surprise us, we say, “WHOA!”

Child-Centred at Heart

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every child is different, with their own interests, strengths, challenges, and way of experiencing the world.

We start by getting to know who they are, meeting them where they are, and building from their strengths.

Connect - We build trust through meaningful relationships.

Understand - We listen to each child’s needs, interests, and communication.

Grow - We create opportunities for each child to develop at their own pace.

Our approach is mainly guided by DIRFloortime®, a relationship-based approach that focuses on building emotional connections, communication, and meaningful engagement through interactions with the child.

D — Development

Understanding where the child is in their individual development.

Floortime means joining the child in their world—following their interests, connecting through play, and creating opportunities for them to communicate, think, problem-solve, and grow.

I — Individual Differences

Respecting how each child uniquely processes and experiences the world.

R — Relationship-Based

Using meaningful relationships and interactions as the foundation for learning.
